Sergeant E. McCouliff was born 3 March 1929 and died 4 July 1951 (aged 22) in Tokyo, Japan. He is buried in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Oneida, New York. Sergeant McCouliff was a member of the 49th Field Artillery Battalion, 7th Infantry Division. He was seriously injured when a gas stove accidentally exploded and burned him while on duty in Korea. He died at the Tokyo Army Hospital in Japan on July 5th, 1951 Sergeant McCouliff was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
