Lance Corporal Phillip Willard Leslie from Oneida, New York was born 18 September 1947. Lance Corporal Leslie was in the U.S. Marine Corps and was 19 and single when he died on 28 August 1967. Arriving in Vietnam, Phillip was assigned to Mike Company, 3rd Battalion, 4th Marine Division. Mike Company was participating in operation Cimarron, 8 kilometers south of the Mai Hoc Airfield when Phillip tripped a hostile booby trap mine and was wounded by multiple fragmentation wounds to the head, left arm, both legs, left foot and buttocks. Lance Corporal Leslie was med-evac and sent to the Naval Hospital in St. Albans New York where he died of his wounds sustained 22 June 1967 in Quang Tri, South Vietnam. Survived by his parents, Joseph and Shirley Leslie and Grandmother Hazel Richmond all of 404 Sconondoa Street, Oneida. His name is located on panel 25E line 59 on the Vietnam Memorial. He is buried in Glenwood Cemetery, Oneida, New York
